Back when they decided to play their separate LP records to different tunes, the pair had many guessing the size of the possible crater Phillippe was destined to fly into due to the disparity in their net worth. But phew, seems like the pin-up movie marathoner neatly dodged that bullet!

Ryan Phillippe sure scored a sweet escape velocity out of Jupiter Reese's gravitational field much smoother than his acting career may suggest (ahem!). Clearly, Phillippe’s break from Witherspoon was less "Cruel Intentions" and more "Catch Me if You Can." As Reese’s ruby red slipper dashed across the yellow brick road to Oscar glory, Ryan exited stage left without so much as an over-priced Hollywood alimony wrapped around his ankle. While the settlement amount remains cloaked tighter than the Bermudez Triangle triangle (and proving even TMZ doesn't have all the compasses), this case displays that not all marital finishes need to look like the finale of a Nolan movie with unrecognizable faces and thin wallets. As to how he emerged from the roaring furnace of love-life drama with such clear skin and close-to-zilch reputational bruises? Your Grandma’s apple pie secret ingredient holds more ghost of a chance than Mr. Philipe's alimony tactics being disclosed. Nevertheless, if marital checkers is your secret hobby, then perhaps you could afford to glean a leaf or two from Ryan’s book! Now, if only we knew which those pages were.
